Water and Bombay- Poetry Reading at Banganga

Banganga is a surprising place in Bombay, and has religious, political, social importance to the people around. Finding water in a city is a rare, strange thing, and finding water in Bombay -- a city literally surrounded by the sea -- is a funny reminder of how landlocked urban life can be. In this poetry reading session, we will read "Bombay Poets" from the 20th century who have written on themes of the city & water/the sea/rivers/water bodies, etc. This will be a 2 hour reading session, in which the group will read, discuss, and share thoughts together on each of these poems and poets. The idea is to demystify poetry, and demonstrate how intrinsically tied it is to the city around. We must pay attention to what the poets were saying, and we must do it in the city's outside, natural spaces -- where the body is heightened by senses and poems.
